Fall and Spring Registration
HGSE Courses
Courses offered during academic year 2025-2026 are viewable in my.Harvard. The course catalog for the 2026-2027 year will be viewable on July 15, 2026. Please be aware after it is published the development of the course list is still in progress and that additions and changes will be made right up until the time of course enrollment. For that reason, it is a good idea to check Course Search in my.Harvard frequently and this page for updates.
HGSE Course Enrollment
Once you have completed check-in (as on the my.Harvard Check-In page), you may begin the course enrollment process when registration opens. Please see the table below with HGSE enrollment categories for Academic Year 2026-2027. If you have not enrolled in any course prior to the registration deadline, you may enroll late, but a $50 late fee will be assessed. Instructions on how to register for classes can be found in the My.Harvard knowledge center.
Course Previews
Course Previews: View 8-10-minute pre-recorded videos created by the course instructors and posted to their course websites in advance of course enrollment.
Grade Basis
For courses that allow for student option, students are expected to indicate their grade option (letter grade or satisfactory/unsatisfactory) in My.Harvard by the Add/Drop Deadline. As you plan out your course of study for the year (or for two years if part-time), please keep in mind that, in general, Ed.M. students must take at least 16 credits for a letter grade. Please all keep in mind that not all schools offer a choice of grading basis.
Credit Limit
Full-time students may take no more than 20 credits per semester (fall and spring). Part-time students may take no more than 10 credits per semester (fall and spring).
Time Conflict
Under NO circumstances are students allowed to enroll in courses that have overlapping synchronous sessions.
Concentrations
For more information about how to declare concentrations at HGSE please see the Master's Programs Support page. Please note that this page is only accessible to those who have a HarvardKey.
- The deadline for students to declare a concentration is on the registration deadline for the Fall semester. Please see HGSE academic calendar for more information.
