Non-Degree Registration

Students able to register as non-degree students are limited to:

  • Harvard Employees (TAP eligible)
  • HGSE Voucher Holders
  • HGSE Alumni (tuition is charged)
  • Harvard Visiting Fellows

Please review the following steps to enroll as non-degree student.

  1. Submit the Non-Degree Registration form. A registration form is required for each semester. It will be available for the Fall in August and for the Spring (both January term and Spring) in November.
  2. The deadline to submit the Non-Degree Registration Form is the last day of that term’s Open Enrollment Period. All dates are listed on the Academic Calendar. Registration forms will not be accepted after that date.
  3. Students will be assessed the appropriate tuition for either a four-credit or two-credit course. Tuition amounts can be found on the Tuition Assistance Program page. Non-TAP users can see the tuition amount per credit in the tuition column.
  4. Once the registration is processed you will receive information about how to enroll in courses. You can enroll in a course until the end of the Add/Drop period. These dates are also found on the Academic Calendar. Full Fall or Spring courses have different add/drop deadlines than the modules (Fall 1 or Fall 2/ Spring 1 or Spring 2).
  5. If you are a Harvard employee using TAP, please review the TAP information for policies and fees. Harvard Employees (TAP eligible), Tax-Related Change to TAP Benefits.
  6. Non-Degree students must be in compliance with the university's immunization policy by the first day of class. You can find information and the link to the Health Services portal on the HUHS website. As soon as you receive confirmation that your Non-Degree Registration form was processed you may upload your record or make an appointment at HUHS for vaccinations. Please note, HUHS states that it may take up to fifteen business days to approve records in the portal.

*Students intending to audit a course, should first receive permission from the professor and then follow the auditing policy by submitting an Auditor Request Form. Students should not register for the course. See this page for the HGSE auditing policy.
