Courses on Education Entrepreneurship and Nonprofits at HGSE, 12:00 – 1:00 pm, Askwith Hall 
In this session, faculty members will provide an overview of the landscape of learning opportunities at HGSE and Harvard more broadly for students interested in starting, leading, working in, or studying nonprofit organizations in the education sector. The goal of the session is to acquaint students with the range of courses and other activities related to education-sector nonprofits and to help them in mapping a pathway through HGSE’s and the University’s varied offerings. This session is convened by faculty member James Honan, and faculty colleagues Monica Higgins, David Dockterman, Uche Amaechi, Ebony Bridwell-Mitchell, Michael Horn, Susan Johnson McCabe, and Richard Weissbourd.  Representatives from HIVE, the HGSE student organization affiliated with educational entrepreneurship, will introduce opportunities and resources to become involved outside of the classroom.  

Math Refresher for S012 and S040,1:00 – 2:00 pm, Gutman Conference Center 4-5 
This session, offered jointly by the instructors of S012 and S040, is intended to provide a refresher for the math skills needed to succeed in introductory quantitative methods classes at HGSE, including S-012 and S-040. The concepts that will be covered include the order of operations, plotting, and basic mathematical functions. This session is not intended to prepare students for more advanced quantitative methods classes at HGSE or in other schools at Harvard. You should attend this session if you want to take S012 or S040 but you’re concerned that you lack the mathematical preparation; the instructor will try to convince you otherwise!

These pre-recorded videos are offered in advance of course enrollment to help students with course selection and will be available starting on Friday, August 21. In addition, please check the course websites (Canvas), as some instructors may offer live online information sessions on Wednesday, August 26 between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm.
