Foundations (Residential Ed.M. Students)
The information below represents current plans for August 2022; plans may be modified between now and the start of each course. Foundations courses are required for the Ed.M. degree.

Evidence (EVI101) | 4 credits | August 11-23, 2022 (No class on August 17 or on weekends) | On-campus | Class will meet for approximately 2.5 hours per session, with two sessions on each of the first two days and one session thereafter. Students should expect to be present for full days on August 11 and 12. On the remaining days, students will be placed in either morning or afternoon sections. |
Equity & Opportunity: Identity in Context (EQO11) | 2 credits | August 15-25, 2022 (No class on August 17 or on weekends) | Most classes will meet entirely on-campus, and a few will meet entirely online | Class will meet each day for 2.5 hours. Students are expected to be in residence and available during the times when Foundations courses are offered in August. Students will be assigned to class sections and meeting times and will be notified of their individual schedules no later than mid-July. If a student has an unmovable family or work commitment that conflicts with an assigned class time, you may contact the Registrar’s Office to request reassignment before the start of the first class meeting. While every effort will be made to accommodate conflicts that cannot be resolved, we cannot guarantee students a choice of specific sections or meeting times.
The workload differs for each component of the Foundations experience, and each involves different materials, pedagogies, activities, and assignments suited to the course topic. You should plan to spend about 10-15 hours per week on How People Learn in June through mid-July. The three August courses are short, intensive experiences; you should expect the pace to feel like taking a regular full course load.
